Gar çon timide et efface, Marc vit des amours un peu ternes, voire platoniques, avec Veronique, une artiste peintre comme lui. Et lorsque Veronique, lasse de leur vie commune, lui annonce qu'elle veut le quitter, Marc, obsede par le souvenir brtcirc;lant de ses ebats avec Nicole, entreprend d'arracher la jeune femme au trottoir et d'entamer avec elle une liaison reguli grave;re.
Mais c'est sans compter avec l'opposition musclee de Jacques, le "protecteur" de Nicole, qui ne l'entend pas de cette oreille.
