People are often very confused when they meet me. At first glance, they see a 12 year old girl who has clearly been separated from her parents at the airport. I've always been extremely independent. By age 7 I was cooking dinner for my six member family and was regularly walking a mile to the grocery store with my parents' debit card and a wagon in tow to purchase food. By age 16, I'd already started looking into investing and starting my own business. I had 7 college credits by the time I graduated high school (with a near perfect GPA), a full time minimum wage job, and my own business as a wellness coach. Needless to say, I never got much sleep. That, however, didn't bother me much because I knew I was spending my time doing something that would benefit me greatly in the future; if nothing else, I would at least have some additional life experience when it was all said and done.
Naturally, after leaving Dallas, Texas (my birth place and home town) I wanted to make sure that I continued to be self employed. There's something absolutely irreplacable about having the freedom to wake up at any time and choosing to wake up at the crack of dawn with a cup of herbal tea anyways. I moved to Denver, Colorado and worked a humble full time job as a copy and print specialist as I was building a new business. I began work on my website just a few short months after I turned 18. My time in Denver was spent deciding how I was going to get it off the ground. Where was the start up capital going to come from? Who would build the site? How would this affect my taxes? Those were all questions weighing heavily on my mind.
Six months after moving to Denver, I decided that city life really wasn't for me. I prefer to live somewhere that doesn't smell like car exhaust and prohibit me from walking by myself in broad daylight. I now live in a small town about an hour outside of Portland, Oregon, which wonderfully accommodates my need for peace and quiet as I work. Upon arriving in Oregon, I began building my website and backlogging content for updates. It was a huge undertaking for one person plus a webmaster, but we got the site up and running on Valentine's day, 2015!
